2024 Presidential Candidate: Sheon Harvey
Sheon Harvey, a Regional Sales Manager at AVer USA, has made a significant impact in the Pro AV industry. Her journey began in San Jose, CA, where she earned a degree in psychology from San Jose State University.
Initially, Harvey harboured dreams of becoming a marriage and family therapist. However, finding a job that could sustain her in the Bay Area proved challenging. In search of a new path, she stumbled upon a listing for AVer and decided to submit her resume, even though she may not have been the most qualified candidate.
AVer took a chance on Harvey and hired her as a sales and marketing specialist. This opportunity marked the beginning of a seven-year journey with the company. In the early days, Harvey became a member of the newly created videoconferencing team at AVer, a role that would soon propel her to greater heights.
In 2016, the videoconferencing team, initially consisting of three members, made $2 million. Within three years, the team more than tripled in size, and revenue jumped to $20 million. This impressive growth is a testament to Harvey's leadership and commitment to her work.
Harvey's primary motivation at work is enhancing the lives of those around her through technology or teamwork. She emphasises the importance of staying ahead of the curve in terms of technology within the AV industry. Her tech-savvy skills, honed from a young age as her father built computers, have undoubtedly played a crucial role in her success.
Harvey's hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. AVer was recently nominated for a gender parity award due to its representation of many women in the Pro AV industry. Harvey herself has moved into an account executive position and started growing the team at AVer.
Despite not hearing back from AVer initially, Harvey's persistence paid off. Today, she stands as a role model for women in the AV industry, seeing a shift towards more women joining the workforce every year.
When she's not making waves in the AV industry, Harvey enjoys exploring her passions outside of work. She is a self-proclaimed foodie and spins fire for fun. Harvey believes that success is only enjoyable when it's a shared experience, a philosophy that undoubtedly resonates with her team and colleagues at AVer.
