9GAG Unveils Memeland Exhibition in Times Square and Launches New NFT Project, Captainz
In a groundbreaking move, popular meme community 9GAG has taken its digital world to the physical realm with an eight-week-long Memeland Exhibition in Times Square, Hong Kong. The event, which allows attendees to immerse themselves in a pirate adventure, metaverse, NFTs, and memes, is just one aspect of 9GAG's ambitious web3 expansion.
The Memeland Exhibition is a natural extension of the Memeland NFT project, which was created by 9GAG itself. The project, backed by notable investors such as Y Combinator, First Round Capital, Greycroft Partners, and True Ventures, has already seen success with the launch of 'You The Real MVP' and Potatoz.
'You The Real MVP' was a private group of 420 NFTs that served as a premium membership into the Memeland ecosystem. It was sold through a blind auction and set the price at 5.3 ETH. The current floor price for Potatoz, another NFT project launched by 9GAG, stands at 1.65 ETH.
The latest addition to the Memeland NFT family is Captainz, a collection of 9,999 utility-enabled PFPs. Each Captainz NFT not only unlocks Memeland's native currency, $MEME, but also grants holders benefits such as private club membership, exclusive access to a creator NFT marketplace, real-life events, and upcoming Memeland and 9GAG drops.
Captainz holders can also explore the "Broken Sea" and govern the Memeland DAO, a community-led vehicle for the growth and development of the Memeland ecosystem. This marks the next step in the Memeland journey, following the success of Potatoz and 'You The Real MVP'.
Memeland is 9GAG's web3 ecosystem, also known as the "Memetaverse," which aims to connect web2 and web3 communities and empower creators.
