"A 37-year-old individual sustains grievous wounds from a firing incident on Kampstraat"
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a tragic shooting incident took place at the corner of Freistuhl and Kampstraße in Dortmund.
At around 00:30 on the 3rd of September, a 37-year-old man, who was homeless and of Moroccan descent, was shot by an unknown assailant. According to eyewitness accounts, the victim had been in a scuffle with the assailant before fleeing towards Reinoldikirche, where he was fatally shot from behind.
The assailant, described as a 30-35-year-old man with a slim build, a three-day beard, black, smooth hair falling down onto his forehead, and a tattoo on his right forearm, was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and light-colored sports shoes. He was also reported to be in possession of a gun during the altercation.
The victim was rushed to the hospital by ambulance but unfortunately succumbed to his serious injuries. A second man, around 25 years old, with a three-day beard, short dark hair, a thin figure, wearing a black "Nike" jacket, black pants, and black sports shoes, was also present at the crime scene but his identity remains unknown.
Both the assailant and the second man fled the scene after the shooting. Police responded swiftly, deploying a helicopter in their search for the two fugitives. Witnesses are urged to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 0231/132-7441 with any information about the incident or the fleeing suspects.
