A noteworthy increase of 401% in smart traffic violations monitoring by PCFC occurred during the first half of 2025.
The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) has announced a series of initiatives aimed at addressing ongoing violations and improving enforcement strategies in the second half of 2025.
In a strategic transformation from reactive measures to proactive intelligence, the PCFC Security Department, under the leadership of Director Sultan Al Malik, has outlined four key initiatives for the coming months.
Firstly, the PCFC plans to implement a 90-day clearance campaign, focusing on resolving outstanding cases related to container-related violations, unmarked trailers, and infrastructure issues. This campaign is expected to significantly reduce the number of active cases, which currently stand at 651.
Secondly, the PCFC will introduce a centralized operations dashboard, providing a streamlined overview of all ongoing operations and enabling more efficient management of resources.
Thirdly, infrastructure and signage audits will be conducted to ensure compliance and enhance the overall operational efficiency of the PCFC.
Lastly, the PCFC aims to enhance enforcement by introducing predictive intelligence systems. The goal is to enable fully proactive enforcement by 2026, marking a significant leap in the PCFC's enforcement capabilities.
The PCFC's efforts have already shown promising results. Despite registering a response rate of 60.4% in smart traffic enforcement during the first half of 2025, the authority experienced a 401% increase in processed violations compared to the first quarter. Of the 1,971 violations handled between January and June, 992 cases were resolved by the PCFC.
Notably, no critical incidents were reported in relation to the environmental incidents handled by the PCFC. The violations handled ranged from abandoned vehicles and illegal waste disposal to unauthorized land use.
The PCFC's proactive approach to enforcement is a testament to its commitment to maintaining a clean, efficient, and secure environment for all users of its facilities. With these initiatives in place, the PCFC is well-positioned to continue its mission of ensuring compliance and promoting a safe and productive environment for all.
