A&W employees in Cornwall are praised for their quick action in potentially life-saving a woman after a severe allergic reaction.

In a heartwarming display of quick thinking and teamwork, two A&W employees in Cornwall, Ont., saved the life of an 81-year-old woman who suffered a severe allergic reaction.

The incident occurred at a local A&W, where the woman, a regular customer, was dining. According to paramedics, her allergic reaction was caused by a wasp sting on her neck.

A&W employees Patricia Harrison and Aimee Boyer sprang into action, with Harrison phoning the nearby Walmart pharmacy to request an EpiPen. A customer who was familiar with the administration of an EpiPen stepped forward to provide the injection.

Walmart pharmacy staff rushed to the A&W and authorized an EpiPen to be sent over. The EpiPen arrived in time to help the woman, reversing her symptoms of anaphylaxis, including swelling, difficulty breathing, and hives.

Both Harrison and Boyer remained on a call with emergency operators while waiting for an ambulance. Paramedics arrived soon after the EpiPen was given and transported the woman to the hospital.

The customer who administered the EpiPen did not provide their name to Boyer. However, the employees were praised by paramedics for their quick action and teamwork.

The woman, who did not have her own EpiPen, has since recovered and is now in good health, according to paramedics. Both Harrison and Boyer expressed relief and satisfaction that everything turned out well. Boyer even felt emotional after the crisis passed and cried in relief.

The event was a collective effort involving A&W employees, the customer who stepped in, Walmart pharmacy staff, and emergency phone operators. It serves as a reminder of the importance of quick action and teamwork in emergency situations.
