A31 Roadway Incident: 10 Individuals Sustained Injuries
In an unexpected turn of events, a significant traffic accident occurred on the A31 near Bottrop at around 18:20 today. The Fire Department Bottrop was quick to respond, and they have provided updates on the situation.
The accident involved two cars, one of which overturned and came to rest on its roof. As a result, ten people were injured, one of them seriously. The A31 in the direction of Bottrop was fully closed during the operation to ensure the safety of those involved and to facilitate the emergency response.
Upon arrival, approximately 40 personnel from the professional fire department and the volunteer fire department Kirchhellen were at the scene. The Fire Department called for the "mass casualty incident" protocol to ensure the efficient and effective treatment of the injured.
Contrary to initial reports, no one was trapped in the accident. After initial treatment, the injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
The operation ended for the fire department around 20:00. The police then took over the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
During the operation, the volunteer fire department Altstadt provided cover for the rest of the city to ensure that regular fire and emergency services could continue uninterrupted.
