Abandoned Luggage at Dortmund Station Results in Expense of 712 Euros for BPOL NRW
In an unexpected turn of events, a 23-year-old German citizen found himself in the hands of the authorities after forgetting his bag at Dortmund Central Station on September 3rd. The bag, left on platform 4/5, was discovered and secured by the Federal Police.
The Dortmund Public Prosecutor's Office had been searching for the individual with two arrest warrants, and the Federal Police Directorate Saint-Augustin was involved in his arrest and custody. The man, who is homeless, was taken into custody following the execution of the arrest warrants at the Central Station in the morning.
The individual was subsequently sentenced by Dortmund Local Court in January 2024 to a fine of 45 daily rates of €10 each, or 40 days in prison. This was not his first brush with the law, as he had been sentenced by the same court in February of the same year to a fine of 30 daily rates of €10 each, or 7 days in prison.
