Abduction of 74-Year-Old Woman Occurs within Parking Garage of Missouri Casino

In an unexpected turn of events, a 62-year-old man named Darryl Saddler was apprehended by authorities on April 8, 2025, for allegedly kidnapping a 74-year-old woman in the parking garage of Hollywood Casino St. Louis in Maryland Heights, Missouri. The incident occurred at approximately 12:33h on the same day.

The victim, identified as Nancy Bloomquist, was last seen leaving the Little River Casino on April 3. Her disappearance raised concerns, and her whereabouts remained unknown until she was found three days later. Despite the overnight temperatures being below freezing, Bloomquist managed to survive the incident.

According to the St. Charles Police Department, Saddler allegedly forced his way into Bloomquist's vehicle at gunpoint and demanded money. In a brave act, Bloomquist withdrew $500 from a QuikTrip convenience store at 1500 Zumbehl Road, despite Saddler aiming a gun at her. This quick thinking and refusal to return to her vehicle prevented the incident from potentially becoming worse.

Bloomquist was located by drone surveillance about 350 feet from her vehicle. Saddler fled in her car but was later apprehended without incident in a baseball field about 40 minutes later.

Saddler has a history of felony convictions for robbery, kidnapping, rape, vehicle hijacking, and firearm offenses. He is now facing multiple felony charges, including kidnapping, first-degree robbery, armed criminal action, stealing a motor vehicle, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Kidnappings, despite the recent incident, are reportedly rare in the area where the incident occurred. General crime statistics and safety measures for parking garages, including those at airports and other public facilities, tend to focus on theft, robbery, and vehicle-related crimes rather than kidnappings. Casinos often implement security systems and surveillance to enhance guest safety in parking areas, but specific kidnapping threats are not highlighted.

If you are concerned about safety at that specific location, it is advisable to consult local law enforcement crime statistics or the casino's security department directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

If convicted, Saddler could be sentenced to years in prison. His bail is set at $100K, cash-only. The investigation is still ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
