Accident Occurs as Driver Dozes Off Behind the Wheel (Pol-EU)
On Saturday, January 25th, at 7 p.m., a traffic accident with personal injury occurred on county road 71 near Blankenheim-Reetz. The vehicle involved was no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away.
The car driver, a 21-year-old from France, was traveling from Blankenheim towards Blankenheim-Reetz on county road 71. In a sharp left curve, the car driver veered off the road to the right and collided with a pile of wood.
Upon arrival, the police officers found the car driver still sitting in his vehicle. The driver stated that he had fallen asleep during the drive, and a report was made regarding the endangerment of traffic with impaired driving.
The car driver was injured in the collision and was taken to a hospital by an ambulance. As of now, the name of the driver has not been publicly disclosed.
