A 51-year-old woman from Pennsylvania is on the run after allegedly pocketing more than $50K in rent money to fuel her gambling addiction. That's according to the York City Police Department, who've issued a warrant for Annette Lynn Anderson's arrest.

Pennsylvania's Gambling Addict Turned Fugitive

Anderson, a rent collector for her ailing mother, is said to have collected rent from 23 tenants and kept the funds for her gambling ventures instead of handing them over to the landlords. When approached by authorities, Anderson admitted to her gambling addiction. However, rather than making things right, she disappeared.

Police claim Anderson often gambled at a local casino in York County, where Hollywood Casino York operates. The casino houses 630 slot machines, 27 live-dealer table games, and an ESPN Bet Sportsbook.

Help for Gambling Addiction

For those battling a gambling problem, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) offers resources to help. Self-exclusion is considered the best way to ensure a gambling disorder doesn't impact a person's life or those around them. The PGCB's self-exclusion programs have almost 34K enrollments.

Meanwhile, Anderson faces two felony charges: theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking. A felony theft by deception conviction carries a prison sentence of up to 7 years and a $15K fine, while a felony theft by unlawful taking conviction could result in the same penalties.

A Checkered Past

This isn't the first time Anderson has crossed paths with the law. Records reveal she's been convicted of felony forgery, theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal conspiracy in 1999. In 2022, she was charged with a "duty of driver in emergency response areas" summary offense, and last September, a court ruled against her in a lawsuit regarding overdue payments from a credit management firm.

Anderson is described as a white woman, 4 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 250 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. Anyone with information about Anderson's whereabouts should contact Det. Batten at [email protected] or call the York City Police at 717-846-1234.
