Achieving Debt Freedom: 21-day Plan for Jumpstarting Your Debt Elimination Journey
In the pursuit of financial freedom, a 21-day programme offers motivation, inspiration, and actionable steps to help individuals embark on a journey towards a debt-free life. This programme, titled "21 Days of Debt-Free Motivation, Inspiration, and Action," provides a roadmap for those seeking to break free from the shackles of debt.
Day 1 kicks off with organising financial information, including income, expenses, assets, and debts. On Day 2, one is encouraged to brainstorm ways to generate extra income, while Day 11 sees the decision of where to sell unwanted items, be it yard sales, consignment stores, or eBay.
In Week Two, the focus shifts to cutting needless expenses and starting an emergency fund. One is advised to save $1000 for this fund, even if it requires daily or weekly contributions. A Simplicity Summit, scheduled for two weeks from today, offers a platform to review finances, health, and other meaningful aspects of life.
On Day 3, one is reminded to let go of guilt and shame about past money behaviour. Seeking out other debt-free stories for inspiration is advised on Day 6, while Day 4 encourages listening to a debt-free success story. On Day 5, one is asked to write down why they want to become debt-free, and on Day 7, one is asked to envision how they will feel when they no longer owe anyone anything.
Day 10 involves making a list of everything that can be sold, and Day 12 sees these items being put up for sale. On Day 14, one is encouraged to curate their social media feeds to support their debt-free journey. On Day 15, the Simplicity Summit day, one creates a debt-free plan.
Day 16 marks the start of the debt-free plan, while Day 17 advises cancelling credit cards after achieving debt freedom. The great credit card debate can be had post-debt freedom. On Day 19, one is encouraged to read books such as "Money, A Love Story" and "Your Money or Your Life" for additional insights.
The path to debt freedom is not just about math and accounting, but about behaviour and changing the way one thinks about money. Ulrich Kammerer, who overcame a crisis leading to near insolvency through a "Schutzschirmverfahren" process, became debt-free after eight months, and then dedicated himself to helping other entrepreneurs in similar situations, serves as an inspiring example.
Day 20 involves revisiting answers to certain questions, and Day 21 celebrates the beginning of a new, sometimes hard, but very rewarding adventure towards financial freedom.
