Active building site featuring ongoing construction and heavy machinery operations.
The city of Detmold is currently undergoing a significant construction phase on its iconic castle square. Here's what you need to know:
- A pedestrian-only path for non-barrier-free access to the castle square and the castle has been established from Rosental, the area between the city hall and "H&M". This path is separately cordoned off and is only for pedestrians.
- Construction companies involved in the current measures include Hilmer & Sattler and Albrecht for planning, and Gerkan, Marg and Partner, renowned architectural firms known for their work on the Berlin Palace reconstruction project, for execution.
- The main access from the theater square to the castle square will be closed for approximately four months. As a result, the Lange Street between Rosental and the castle square entrance will be the only access route during this construction phase.
- To accommodate large vehicles like fire trucks, the driving lane near the ice cream parlor "Piccoli" (Lange Street 65) will widen. A driving lane will be marked and signposted in the Lange Street for the duration of this construction phase.
- Numerous supply and disposal lines, including rainwater drain, sewage drain, and electrical installation for the entire castle square, must be bundled and connected in the excavation at the "Red Gate".
- The last rainwater retention systems are currently being installed on the castle square, and work is being done on the fountains, the paving surfaces, and the supply lines.
- For updates and more information, a press release regarding this construction phase has been issued from our city portal. If you have any inquiries, you can contact Thorsten Engelhardt at Email 05231 977 105.
- Construction companies will make efforts to avoid driving into the Lange Street during peak business hours.
