Actor Jitendra Kumar steps into Bablu Pandit role in Mirzapur: The Film, following Vikrant Massey's departure.

The much-anticipated film adaptation of the popular series, Mirzapur, is now in production, with several key cast members returning to their iconic roles.

According to recent reports, Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Divyenndu will reprise their roles in the upcoming film, which was announced in October 2024. The film promises to retain the intensity and character-driven drama that made the series a cult OTT phenomenon, though specific plot details remain undisclosed.

One notable absence from the cast is Vikrant Massey, who originally played the role of Bablu Pandit in the first season of the series. Massey reportedly declined to reprise the role due to his discomfort with revisiting Bablu's shocking death in the cinematic version after experiencing it in the series.

Jitendra Kumar has been cast in the role of Bablu Pandit in the film adaptation. Kumar, best known for his roles in the shows Kota Factory and Panchayat, has impressed fans with his performances in projects like Panchayat, Kota Factory, and Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan.

Mohit Malik has also joined the cast of Mirzapur: The Film, confirmed on social media. Ravi Kishan, known for his powerful performances, has reportedly joined the cast as well, playing a role in the film. There is no information indicating that Ravi Kishan is replacing another actor.

Isha Talwar, a star of Mirzapur, has criticised Shanoo Sharma of YRF for a 'weird' audition experience. No further details about the audition process have been disclosed.

The shooting for Mirzapur: The Film has already started at Film City in Goregaon, Mumbai. Several key cast members are expected to join the production soon. The makers of the film are aiming for a theatrical release in 2026.

Vikrant Massey, who has previously refused a role in the much-anticipated action thriller Don 3, is not involved in the Mirzapur film project.
