Actor Wotan Wilke Möhring replaces Elton in the show "Who knows?"
In an exciting turn of events, Wotan Wilke Möhring, known from the northern German "Tatort", has been announced as the new team captain on the popular quiz show "Who Knows What?". The ARD program director made the announcement, with Möhring set to make his debut as the new captain on October 13, 2025, weekdays at 6:00 PM on the first channel.
Möhring, who has been a guest on "Who Knows What?" several times before, is no stranger to the quiz show scene. Bernhard Hoecker, the quiz show veteran, offered a piece of advice to the new captain: "Just have fun. We're not in high-performance sports where you have to worry about your place in the team after every loss. We're here for entertainment and fun. If you go into a show like this with pressure, you'll just end up tense."
Kai Pflaume, host of the show, stated that Möhring was the preferred candidate from the start. Pflaume described Möhring as a super likable person with heart, who brings humor, knowledge, ambition, and enthusiasm to the role. Bernhard Hoecker was immediately convinced by Möhring's appointment and expressed his excitement about every single episode with the new team captain.
Möhring himself expressed his excitement about gaining new knowledge, funny questions, and fun on the show. The new team captain will be alongside quiz whiz and "Who Knows What?" veteran Bernhard Hoecker.
The quiz show has been popular with audiences for years, reaching new record ratings with an average of 20.2% market share in the total audience and 14.6% in the 20-49 age group during its 11th season. In addition to the regular episodes, there will be an additional show, "Who Knows What? XXL", airing on Saturday before that, at 8:15 PM.
The departure of the former team captain, Elton, who left the quiz show in April after ten years, seeking more time for himself, his family, and his friends, has paved the way for Möhring to step into the limelight. With Möhring's charisma and Hoecker's quizzing expertise, the new season of "Who Knows What?" is set to be an entertaining and engaging spectacle for viewers.
