Mayor of Zwickau Receives Threat Referencing Neo-Nazi Murder Case

In a concerning turn of events, the Mayor of Zwickau, Constance Arndt, has received a threat email referencing the 2019 neo-Nazi murder of CDU politician Walter Lübke. The sender, using the name "Adolf Hitler" and the email address , a deliberate reference to the right-wing terrorist group "National Socialist Underground" (NSU), warned Arndt with the message "Remember Walter Lübke. Always be careful."

Arndt, who is known for her openness to debate and constructive criticism, publicly displayed the threat on Instagram along with a statement saying "Criminal complaint filed! I won't be intimidated." She has also stated that the debate about the threat should be in the public and that people with different political views should learn to deal with each other respectfully.

The threat against Arndt, whose city had a 40.6% voter share for the AfD in the last federal election, exploits the trauma of the Lübke case deliberately. It is important to note that no politicians were investigated by the police as suspects in the 2019 murder of Walter Lübke. The court, however, saw a "racist-ethnic murder motive" in the Lübke case.

Arndt has been cooperating with the police in their investigation of the threat. She has also made it clear that there is no reason for anyone to contact her in such a manner. She remains open to respectful exchange and constructive criticism.

This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing presence of extremist elements in society and the need for continued vigilance and respectful dialogue. The police are urging anyone with information regarding this threat to come forward. The public is also encouraged to report any suspicious activities or threats to the authorities.
