Advancement of the European ethos or Europeanism
========================================================
Germany has announced a new funding program aimed at supporting projects that promote European thought, networking civil society, and the added value of the European Union (EU). The program, which excludes projects with no clear connection to Europe or the EU, humanitarian aid projects, development policy, or peace-building measures, is open to a wide range of applicants.
The funding focuses on innovative projects on European topics and the creation of dialogue platforms. Notably, evaluation costs are eligible for funding, provided they contribute to the overall success of the project.
Applicants must commit to a minimum of 30% female participation in panels and invited speakers. Funding is primarily awarded to natural and legal persons in Germany, including national and international associations, German and foreign non-governmental organizations, individuals, charitable institutions, and international organizations.
The program includes specific funding guidelines or concepts with validity periods. For instance, the "Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings" (BEG) program, which started in 2021, is set to receive updates. Other funding programs, such as the public transport investment funding in Brandenburg, will remain valid until December 31, 2030. The rail freight transport funding program will continue until December 31, 2028.
It's worth noting that projects and measures already funded by another federal authority with public funds may not be considered, except in exceptional cases where a project serves several different funding goals and has not yet begun.
Purely academic publications are not eligible for funding unless they reach a sufficiently large public audience. This stipulation underscores the program's commitment to fostering dialogue and engagement beyond the academic sphere.
The new funding program is a significant step towards strengthening Europe's future by supporting innovative projects that align with the values and goals of the EU. By encouraging dialogue, networking, and the promotion of European thought, the program aims to create a more united and prosperous Europe.
