Advertising giant WPP taps Dave Rolfe to serve as its inaugural Global Head of Production.

Global advertising giant WPP has made significant moves in its ongoing efforts to bolster its creative capabilities. The company has announced the hiring of Rob Reilly as its global chief creative officer and the appointment of Dave Rolfe as the global head of production.

The appointments are part of a multi-year initiative launched by WPP CEO Mark Read in 2018, aimed at enhancing the company's creative prowess. This effort continues to be a key focus in WPP's ongoing organizational changes.

Dave Rolfe's appointment marks a new role at WPP. He will be stepping into the position of global Chief Production Officer, effective from July 2023. His appointment is a continuation of the investment in creative leadership that WPP announced in 2018, with a commitment of £15 million ($20.94 million) per year towards this endeavour, a commitment that remains in effect until 2021.

Rob Reilly, who joined WPP approximately a month ago, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He has previously held positions at McCann Worldgroup and McCann Erickson, where he worked on high-profile campaigns for brands such as Coca-Cola, Ford, and Nike.

The creation of a new position of global head of production and the hiring of Dave Rolfe are part of WPP's strategy to strengthen its production department. WPP owns several leading agencies, including MediaCom, Ogilvy, and VMLY&R, and these appointments are expected to drive innovation and creativity across all these agencies.

These appointments are not the only changes WPP is undergoing. The company has also allocated funds towards creative leadership as part of its organizational changes. The £15 million ($20.94 million) per year investment was announced in 2018 and remains a significant commitment to fostering creativity within the company.

With these new appointments, WPP is poised to continue its journey of transformation, aiming to maintain its position as a leader in the advertising industry by investing in creative talent and leadership. The company's commitment to its creative vision is clear, and its ongoing efforts are a testament to its dedication to excellence.
