FOIA Advisory Committee Meeting Scheduled for September 11, 2025
The FOIA Advisory Committee will be holding a meeting on Thursday, September 11, 2025. This scheduled event will take place virtually, making it accessible to the public from the comfort of their homes.
The meeting, which is open to all, will commence at 10:00 a.m. and will be chaired by Alina M. Semo, the Committee Chair of the FOIA Advisory Committee. Alina M. Semo is also the Committee Chair of the FOIA Advisory Committee.
During the meeting, there will be opportunities for Public Comments at 12:40 p.m. Jay Trainer, the Chief Operating Officer of the National Archives and Records Administration, is expected to be in attendance.
The meeting will be structured with several subcommittees taking the lead. Jason R. Baron and Marianne Manheim will serve as Subcommittee Co-chairs for the Implementation subcommittee. Ryan Mulvey and Whitney Frazier-Jenkins will serve as Subcommittee Co-chairs for the Statutory Reform subcommittee. Nicholas Wittenberg and Nieva Brock will lead the Volume and Frequency subcommittee.
Notable Committee members include Shelley Kimball, an Associate Program Director, Senior Lecturer at John Hopkins University, and David Cuillier, the Director of the Brechner Freedom of Information Project at the University of Florida. Ben Worthy, a Reader in Politics and Public Policy at Birkbeck College, University of London, will also be present.
Whitney Frazier-Jenkins has committed to serving as Subcommittee Co-chair for Statutory Reform at the FOIA Advisory Committee Meeting in 2025.
The meeting will conclude with Closing Remarks and Adjournment by Committee Chair Alina M. Semo. This promises to be an informative and engaging event for all those interested in the Freedom of Information Act.
