AI Sample Finder, a groundbreaking AI-driven instrument for sample finding, debuts from WAVS
WAVS, a groundbreaking platform for music creators, has launched its latest innovation - the AI Sample Finder. This AI-powered sample discovery tool promises to empower artists to explore and experiment with samples in innovative new ways.
The WAVS plugin, compatible with macOS and Windows and available in VST/AU formats, seamlessly integrates with your DAW project. It allows easy auditioning of sounds in the appropriate key and tempo, making the process of finding the perfect sample a breeze.
The AI-based sample discovery tool, developed by The Crow Hill Company, founded in 2023 by composer Christian Henson (formerly of Spitfire Audio), based in Edinburgh, is described as an "industry first" in AI-based sample discovery.
With AI Sample Finder, users can search for samples similar to an uploaded audio file without leaving their DAW. It can discover sounds that resemble favorite samples and synth patches, as well as stems, loops, and one-shots that align sonically with an existing project.
WAVS boasts an extensive library of over 100,000 sounds, almost half of which are royalty-free. The library can be searched and filtered based on categories such as mood, energy, genre, and instrumentation.
The WAVS plugin's AI-powered similarity search requires the sample to be loaded into its desktop app before it can be accessed in the plugin. On the other hand, Splice's Search with Sound feature, currently in beta, searches for compatible sounds that could be layered into a project, based on analysis of rhythm and tonality. However, it's integrated into DAWs like Pro Tools, Studio One, and Ableton, but not in the Splice Bridge plugin.
WAVS operates on a credit-based subscription service with tier options starting at $8.99/month for the Starter tier, $13.99/month for the Pro tier, and $19.99/month for the Elite tier.
In related news, Output launched a similar tool, Co-Producer, earlier this year. As the music industry continues to evolve, these AI-driven tools are set to play a significant role in shaping the future of music creation.
