Aid delivery from UAE to Gaza reaches 6,775 tonnes, distributed via 325 trucks, following the reopening of border crossings.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has continued its commitment to supporting the Palestinian people, particularly those in the Gaza Strip, through a series of humanitarian aid operations.
In a significant development, the UAE, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), evacuated 155 patients from Gaza last week. This operation was part of the UAE's ongoing humanitarian operation, Operation Chivalrous Knight 3.
The UAE has also sent a total of 325 trucks carrying 6,775 tonnes of aid into Gaza since the reopening of border crossings. Four convoys, consisting of 76 trucks, were successfully crossed into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing last week.
The convoys carried essential supplies, including food, medical items, shelter materials, and desalination equipment. The UAE's humanitarian relief team meticulously supervised the loading of these aid shipments to ensure their safe delivery. Upon arrival, the team oversaw the transfer of aid through the Rafah border crossing to guarantee its swift and efficient distribution to Palestinian families.
The UAE has conducted several airdrops of aid over the Gaza Strip, including the 78th, 77th, and 76th drops. The team closely monitors field operations to ensure the aid reaches its intended recipients.
However, it's worth noting that the United Nations (UN) has faced challenges in delivering aid to Gaza. Since the reopening of border crossings, the UN has transported a total of 2,010 trucks carrying 27,434 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. However, only about 10% of these trucks reportedly reached their intended recipients, with many supplies being intercepted or diverted.
Despite these challenges, the UAE's humanitarian relief efforts have played a vital role in alleviating humanitarian conditions in Gaza. The UAE has reaffirmed its commitment to standing in solidarity with families in Gaza and has condemned the Israeli settlement push and the escalation in Gaza.
The UAE's unwavering support for the Palestinian people is a testament to its commitment to peace, stability, and humanitarian aid in the region.
