Firefighting Efforts Intensify Near Gelendzhik
The forest fire near the Russian city of Gelendzhik is currently being tackled by a combined force of emergency services, with 403 personnel working tirelessly to contain the blaze. According to the press service of EMERCOM of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory, the fire has been localized over an area of 39.5 hectares.
On August 30, at 7:00 PM, Russian emergencies officials dropped water from the air to extinguish the forest fire in Gelendzhik. In total, 153 water drops were made, amounting to 865 tons of water. This aerial assault was part of an ongoing effort to quell the flames.
In addition to air support, 102 units of equipment are deployed for the firefighting efforts near Gelendzhik. The local department is leading the charge on the ground.
Unfortunately, the situation became more complex when several drones were spotted flying over Chertkovsky and Millerovsky districts in the Rostov region. Air defense forces were promptly dispatched and successfully shot down these drones, ensuring they did not pose a threat to the firefighting efforts.
