Al-Ittihad Start Saudi Pro League Season with a Bang

Karim Benzema kicked off the Saudi Pro League season in style for Al-Ittihad, scoring a hat-trick in their opening match against Al-Okhdood. The French striker's first goal came within the first four minutes, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Benzema's second goal was a header, scored past Al-Okhdood's goalkeeper, Samuel Portugal. Steven Bergwijn also got on the scoresheet for Al-Ittihad, with his goal coming from a deflected free-kick. The scoring spree wasn't just limited to the home team, as Al-Okhdood conceded an own goal to Mohamed Nayef, increasing their deficit.

Juan Sebastian Pedroza scored a goal for Al-Okhdood, but it was not enough to prevent a comprehensive 5-2 defeat. An own goal by Saeed Al-Rubaie and another by Pedroza made up Al-Okhdood's tally.

Meanwhile, Mateo Retegui, a new signing for Al-Qadisiyah, made an immediate impact in his debut, scoring twice in their match against Al-Najma. The Argentine striker's goals helped Al-Qadisiyah secure a 3-1 victory, making a winning start to their season.

The results of the opening matches place Al-Ittihad, Al-Qadisiyah, Al-Hilal, and Al-Nassr level at the top of the table, all having opened their campaigns with three points. However, the specific score of the Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr match, which took place on Friday, was not provided.

Naif Asiri of Al-Okhdood received his second yellow card, resulting in his team playing with 10 men for the remaining seven minutes of the game. Despite this, Al-Ittihad secured the three points in emphatic fashion, marking a strong start to their title defence.
