A case of suspected investment fraud has been reported in Anklam, Germany, with the Criminal Police currently investigating the matter. The victim, a 64-year-old German woman, fell prey to the fraudsters who communicated with her via WhatsApp chat and email.

The ordeal began when the woman responded to an online ad promising profitable capital investment. The fraudsters, posing as advisors with alleged contacts to crypto exchanges or financial companies, lured her into the scheme.

The woman was asked to provide her contact details on a suspicious website and install several apps on her mobile phone to track her investments. One of these apps reportedly gave the fraudsters remote access to her phone.

The fraudsters then asked the woman to transfer approximately 75,000 euros to a foreign account, providing her with account details via WhatsApp chat. The woman was also made aware of supposedly well-invested money through the same channel.

Fortunately, the woman was alerted to the fraud by her bank. She is now urging others to be vigilant and to exercise caution when considering investment offers, especially those received in chat groups or from unknown contacts.
