Alexandra Dorndorf, Police President of Münster, expresses gratitude for productive partnership with General Geilen as he bids farewell
The Bundeswehr has been appointed as a permanent member of the Security Conference in Münster, marking a significant step in the city's security arrangements. This development comes amidst the current geopolitical security situation, where threats of hybrid warfare, espionage, and sabotage loom large.
Brigadier General Stefan Ulrich Geilen, the new Bundeswehr representative, paid a visit to the Münster police headquarters recently. Upon his departure, General Geilen and Police President Alexandra Dorndorf exchanged coin-memorials of their respective organisations, symbolising the strong bond between the police and the armed forces.
General Geilen, a distinguished infantry officer with an extraordinary career, studied at the University of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg and completed the General Staff Course at the Leadership Academy. His impressive military career includes roles as company commander, battalion commander, and commander of the 1st Air Assault Brigade.
Notable deployments abroad include his service as a staff officer in the Military Evacuation Operation "Libelle" in Albania in 1997 and his role as deputy leader in the Operation "Pegasus" in Libya in 2011.
The Security Conference, a forum where the heads of city authorities and security partners in Münster discuss current security issues, will undoubtedly benefit from General Geilen's expertise. The enhanced military capability, resilient infrastructure, and a changed mindset in the population are key elements for civil defense, population protection, and disaster protection.

Alexandra Dorndorf, Police President of Münster, praised the cooperation with the armed forces over the past three years, expressing her confidence in General Geilen's leadership. The defense of the country and the alliance has become the core task of the armed forces, and General Geilen's involvement in the Security Conference is expected to strengthen this commitment.
As the Bundeswehr takes up its permanent seat in the Security Conference, it signifies a renewed commitment to ensuring the security and safety of Münster and its citizens.
