Grace Bromage '23 Continues to Shine as Editor-In-Chief of The Spire at Holy Cross

Grace Bromage '23, an undeclared major at Holy Cross, has been making waves in the student journalism community since she joined The Spire, the college's newspaper, in September 2019. Her journey began at the club fair, where she discovered her passion for writing and reporting.

In her first semester with The Spire, Bromage wrote her first article covering Mingwei Song's Chinese Science Fiction Lecture in October 2019. This was just the beginning of her impressive career with the publication. In the same semester, she also held the position of a Staff Writer.

Bromage's hard work and dedication paid off when she was appointed as the Features Editor in Fall 2019. It was during this time that she started an article series called "Unsung Heroes," where she interviewed groundskeepers, Kimball workers, and janitorial staff, giving them the recognition they deserved.

In her junior year, Bromage was promoted to the role of Chief Features Editor. She worked alongside Ethan Bachand '22, and together they led The Spire to new heights. In Winter 2020, Bromage started incorporating interviews into her articles, adding a personal touch to her reporting.

The event to celebrate The Spire and HerCampus, two student journalism groups at Holy Cross, reaching their 100th year was a highlight of Bromage's tenure. The event brought together students to hear from three Spire and HerCampus alums. One of the most memorable moments was when Bromage interviewed Russian journalist, free-press advocate, and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Dmitry Muratov, in the vestry of St. Joseph's Memorial Chapel.

Bromage's role as Chief Editor at The Spire was enabled by the support and collaboration of the editorial team and the university community. She would like to thank all the editors and chief editors for their contributions.

The final issue of the Fall 2021 semester of The Spire has been published, marking another successful year for Bromage and the team. As she continues her Master's of Arts in Teaching at Clark University, Bromage is currently the Editor-In-Chief of The Spire at Holy Cross.

A profile under the headline "Grace continues to use chocolate as a cure all, continues to thrive" features Bromage, showcasing her vibrant personality and dedication to her work. The profile photo of Bromage was taken by Kim Fetherston '22.

Bromage is currently a fellow at the Nativity School of Worcester, teaching art to fifth graders and English to sixth graders. Despite her busy schedule, she continues to uphold the high standards of journalism set by The Spire. Her commitment to the publication and her community is truly inspiring.
