Android Tablet, the AlessiTab, catered specifically towards female users
In the world of contemporary household communications, Alessi, an iconic Italian design house renowned for glamorizing kitchens and dining rooms, has made a bold foray into the tablet market with the AlessiTab.
The AlessiTab, a result of a partnership between Alessi and Promelit, and the design efforts of Stefano Giovannoni, is a sleek and simple Android tablet that resembles a digital photo-frame, with an odd angular shape more suited for table and countertops.
Powered by Android 2.1, the AlessiTab boasts a 10.1 inch HD screen with capacitive touchscreen technology and a built-in gravitational sensor that rotates images 180 degrees. It also features an integrated front-facing camera and microphone, an USB port, and an SD card reader.
The AlessiTab is marketed towards women, particularly young housewives, and is capable of making video calls and watching digital TV broadcasts. It supports HD with HDMI output and has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g connection and a DVB-T with antenna for real-time news, weather, recipes, or internet radio.
However, the processor powering the AlessiTab remains undisclosed, and the battery life of the rechargeable battery is not specified.
Danilo Marchiori, President of Promelit, believes the AlessiTab perfectly summarizes technology and our attachment to our homes, while Alberto Alessi, President of Alessi s.p.a., considers the AlessiTab as a contemporary addition to the "Alessi Encyclopaedia".
Despite the excitement, the launch dates and price details of the AlessiTab have not been revealed yet. Given the typically high price range of Alessi products, it is expected that the AlessiTab may also be expensive.
