Angels secure victory over Astros with Peraza's decisive 2-run hit in the ninth, ending the game 4-1.

The Los Angeles Angels secured a hard-fought 4-1 victory over the Houston Astros in a nail-biting game on Saturday.

Spencer Arrighetti, the Astros' starting pitcher, delivered a stellar performance, striking out a season-high eight batters over 6 1/3 innings. However, he was let down by a lone hit, a solo home run by Zach Neto in the fifth inning.

On the other side, Kyle Hendricks kept the Astros' bats quiet, allowing only one run while scattering seven hits over six innings.

The game remained tied at 1-1 until the ninth inning, when the Angels' fortunes turned. Bryan Abreu, who had been virtually untouchable in August, allowed four straight hits, resulting in three runs for the Angels. The decisive blow came from Oswald Peraza, who hit a two-run single to deep right field, breaking the deadlock.

The Astros brought in Jose Fermin in the eighth inning, who managed to retire the side in order. However, the Angels' rally in the ninth proved too much to overcome. Cam Smith could not catch Peraza's bases-loaded fly ball, allowing another run to score.

Reid Detmers kept the Astros scoreless in the seventh inning, but the damage had already been done. The Astros' RHP Hunter Brown (10-6, 2.37 ERA) will face the Los Angeles Angels' RHP Jose Soriano (9-9, 3.85) in the next game.

Yordan Alvarez had two hits for the Astros, while Oswald Peraza's heroics earned him the win for the Angels. The Astros remain three games ahead of Seattle for first place in the AL West, but this loss could potentially narrow the gap.

The Astros are scheduled to continue their series against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Kenley Jansen worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn his 24th save for the Angels, ensuring they head into the final game of the series with momentum.
