Anticipated pension increases for specific demographrics in September

In September, many pensioners in Russia can expect an increase in their pension payments. Here's a breakdown of who qualifies and why.

Firstly, those who stopped working in August and meet the conditions for a full pension will see an increase in their pension size starting in September. This is because pensions are generally adjusted and paid monthly after meeting retirement requirements such as ceasing work and reaching the retirement age or qualifying for full pension conditions.

For pensioners over 80, the base amount of the doubled fixed part of their insurance pension in 2025 will be 8,907 rubles 70 kopecks. This means that a pensioner over 80 will receive 17,815 rubles 40 kopecks just for this part of their pension in September, not including additional payments and regional coefficients.

If care is provided for a pensioner over 80, 1,314 rubles are added to their insurance pension per month. Similarly, if a pensioner turns 80 in August, they will start receiving a doubled fixed part of their insurance pension from September.

For retirees who are also people with disabilities of the first group and those who reach the age of 80, an increase in their pension size is also expected in September.

If a pensioner has dependents, 2,969 rubles 23 kopecks will be added for each non-working family member for those who receive a doubled fixed part of their insurance pension.

It's important to note that the recalculation for those who stopped working in August is performed automatically based on received information. No applications are required for the recalculation of pensions.

The Russian pension system adjusts recalculations from the first day of the month following the month in which legally significant circumstances occurred. This means that if an event occurs in August (e.g., reaching age, changing disability group, acquiring dependents, or ceasing employment), the increase begins in September.

The increase in pensions for those who stopped working in August is due to the automatic recalculation that occurs from the month following retirement. The recalculation for those who stopped working in August includes all previously missed indexations.

In summary, if you stopped working in August, turned 80, or have a disability of the first group, you may be eligible for an increase in your pension starting in September. The recalculation is automatic and based on the existing legislation. Enjoy the increased pension size!
