Anticipated Price Increase for Upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, According to Recent Study Revealed

Apple is gearing up to announce its latest iPhone series, the iPhone 17, at its annual fall event on September 9. According to rumours, the company is planning to increase the prices of the new models, continuing a trend of price hikes that has been in place since the iPhone 6.

The most affordable model, the iPhone 17E, is expected to retail at $599, marking a $50 increase from the iPhone 16E. The baseline iPhone 17 Pro, on the other hand, is rumoured to come with 256GB of storage instead of the 128GB offered by the iPhone 16 Pro, and could carry a price tag of $1,149, a $50 increase from previous models.

The speculation that the prices of the iPhone 17 Pro models might increase by 50 USD comes from the Chinese Weibo user known as "luxshare0318." If the rumour is true, the starting prices for the iPhone 17 series will be:

  • iPhone 17E: $599
  • iPhone 17: $899
  • iPhone 17 Mini: $899
  • iPhone 17 Pro: $1,149
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,349

Apple did not respond to a request for comment regarding the prices of the upcoming iPhone 17 series. However, it's worth noting that the company has historically increased the price of the standard iPhone in $50 increments, except between the first and second iPhone models.

The iPhone has been overdue for a price increase, with the last one being five years ago. The iPhone X, launched in 2017, had a starting price of $999. Adjusted for inflation, this would be $1,298 in 2025. The iPhone XS Max, which debuted in 2018, had a price of $1,099, representing a $350 increase from the iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple's decision to raise prices could be influenced by the costs of components and tariffs. During a quarterly earnings call in May, Apple CEO Tim Cook estimated that current tariffs could add $900 million to Apple's costs. Apple is the third-largest company in the US and most of its products are manufactured in China.

Despite the ongoing discussions about tariffs on the iPhone's price, iPhone prices have remained the same so far this year. It remains to be seen how the prices of the iPhone 17 series will be affected.

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the September 9 event.
