Apple has confirmed the release date for its highly anticipated iPhone 17, with the device set to be announced on September 9, 2025, according to an invitation to the company's fall event. Pre-orders for the iPhone 17 will begin on September 12, 2025, and the official sales launch is scheduled for September 19, 2025.
However, the details about the colours, display, cameras, and other specifications of the iPhone 17 are yet to be confirmed. There are also rumours suggesting that Apple may release an iPhone 17E in February, similar to the iPhone 16E that was launched earlier this year.
The iPhone 17, along with the iPhone 17 Air, Pro, and Pro Max, are rumoured to be revealed at the event. This follows Apple's long-standing tradition of announcing its new iPhone lineup in early September, with the exception being in 2020 when the release was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Apple's strategy of releasing high-end models in September aims to capture much of the holiday shopping season. By doing so, the company hopes to generate a second crest of excitement, as diehard fans and holiday shoppers will have already spent their money on the pricier models in the fall.
The cost of the new iPhone remains unknown due to constantly changing tariffs. It is also worth noting that Apple is expected to only release higher-end models in fall 2026, with the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, Air, and a rumoured new foldable iPhone.
As of now, the exact dates for the preorder and release of the iPhone 17 are still subject to speculation. Apple did not respond to a request for comment. A supposed leak from German site iPhone-Ticker suggests that preorders for the iPhone 17 will begin on Sept. 12, with a Sept. 19 release. However, these dates are yet to be confirmed by Apple.
