Anticipated SNCF Disruptions on September 10th: RATP Predicts Near-Normal Rush Hour Traffic for Paris' Public Transportation System
The French National Railway Company (SNCF) has released traffic forecasts for this evening, indicating disruptions on several Intercity lines and night trains. The affected routes include Paris - Clermont-Ferrand, Paris - Limoges - Toulouse, Bordeaux - Marseille, and night trains.
The situation is more complex on the RER B, which, jointly operated with SNCF, is usually used by nearly a million passengers a day. While disruptions are expected, the line will maintain the interconnection at Gare du Nord, allowing passengers to avoid changing trains. Tramway and RER A circulation, on the other hand, should be normal.
Metro traffic in the Paris region is expected to be almost normal, with only a few disruptions anticipated. In contrast, the situation on regional trains, RER Transilien in the Ile-de-France region, and TER in certain regions is affected by the "Block Everything" movement.
The CGT-Cheminots, the leading union on the SNCF side, has called for "massive participation" in the September 10 strike, while the La Base union within RER drivers has announced a strike and "action in all possible forms" on the same day. SUD-Rail, the third-largest union of railway workers on the SNCF side, has called for a strike but not for September 18.
High-speed TGV Inoui, Ouigo, and international trains will operate normally. However, four major RATP unions (CGT, FO, Unsa Mobility, and CFE-CGC) have called for a "day of strike and massive demonstration" on September 18.
SNCF did not provide details on the disruptions on Monday, September 8. As of now, other transport lines in the Paris region are unaffected. It is advised to check the latest updates before planning your journey.
