Apple is set to make a significant leap in display technology, as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts the tech giant will equip various devices with mini-LED displays in the coming years.
Kuo, known for his accurate predictions about Apple's product roadmap, revealed his latest forecast via 9to5 Mac. He expects six Apple gadgets to feature mini-LED displays, with four of them arriving in 2021.
The iPad Pro models are anticipated to be the first to adopt mini-LED technology in 2021 and 2022. Besides the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, two iPad Pro models and potentially two MacBook Pro models are expected to sport these advanced displays. A more affordable MacBook Air with a mini-LED display is slated for 2022.
Mini-LED displays boast several advantages over current LED backlighting in displays. They are brighter, with more precise backlighting, and offer similar color quality to OLED displays.
