Application Process Begins for Fondazione Prada Film Finance Program
Fondazione Prada has opened submissions for its new Film Fund, a €1.5 million initiative aimed at supporting artistically ambitious projects that often sit outside market logic. The fund, which was announced during the Venice Production Bridge at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, is dedicated to independent cinema and positions itself as a natural step from restorations and collaborations to direct support.
Projects moving through the two phases of evaluation will undergo a preliminary check of requirements, followed by reviews by readers and an international committee. The international committee includes figures from film and culture, with Violeta Bava, Paolo Bertolin, Émilie Bujès, Michelle Carey, and Claire Diao among the advisors.
Eligibility for grants is limited to production companies that demonstrate reliable resource management. Grants of up to €250,000 will be awarded to the lead production company, with support available for development, production, and post-production of films. Selection is based on quality, originality, and vision.
Paolo Moretti, head of the program, positions the initiative as a natural step from restorations and collaborations to direct support. He emphasises the fund's role in actively enabling new work and extending the foundation's long dialogue with contemporary experimentation. Miuccia Prada, the founder of Fondazione Prada, considers cinema as both an engine for new ideas and a tool for cultural education.
The monitoring process will cover financial transparency, production standards, and alignment with the approved proposal. Entries for the Fondazione Prada Film Fund close on October 17, 2025. Announcements of selected projects are expected between January and February 2026.
The program is developed by Paolo Moretti and Rebecca De Pas, with support from an international circle of advisors. Fondazione Prada encourages production companies eligible for the fund to submit their applications on fondazioneprada.org. The aim of the initiative is to back projects that push the boundaries of cinematic storytelling and contribute to the rich tapestry of independent cinema.
