In a thrilling final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Aryna Sabalenka successfully defended her US Open crown, defeating Amanda Anisimova in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-6(7-3).

The match started with a close battle, as Sabalenka took an early 2-0 lead. However, Anisimova failed to convert three break point openings, allowing Sabalenka to maintain her advantage. Sabalenka's serve proved problematic for Anisimova in the eighth game of the first set, as the eighth seed double-faulted twice to hand Sabalenka break points at 15-40. Sabalenka converted one of those break points to win the first set.

The second set began with Sabalenka punishing another wayward service game from Anisimova, taking a 3-1 lead. Anisimova fought back, winning two consecutive games to tie the score at 2-2, demonstrating strong groundstrokes that forced Sabalenka around the court. However, Sabalenka broke Anisimova for a 3-2 lead, only for Anisimova to respond by breaking back to retake the lead.

The score remained tight until Sabalenka served for the match at 5-4 in the second set. Unfortunately, Sabalenka plowed a wide open smash into the net, giving Anisimova a break point. Anisimova took that break point to give herself a lifeline, but ultimately lost the match in the tiebreak of the second set.

Sabalenka's victory took one hour and 34 minutes and was her 19th consecutive tiebreak win. The Belarusian expressed gratitude for the tough lessons she had learned and stated that the victory was worth it.

Anisimova had won six of nine previous encounters against Sabalenka, including a victory in the Wimbledon semi-finals. However, Sabalenka's recent losses in the finals of the Australian and French Open seemed to fuel her determination to win the US Open title again.

With this victory, Sabalenka cements her status as the number one player in women's tennis, defending her US Open title in style.
