Armed Assassination of NSCDC Officer in Abuja Hotel

In the Life Camp area of Abuja, on Sunday, August 31, a tragic incident occurred that has left a family in mourning. DSP Adama Adekunle Emmanuel, a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), was shot dead by a colleague.

The family was informed of the incident later that afternoon by a colleague named Emmanuel. However, the circumstances surrounding DSP Adama Adekunle Emmanuel's death remain unclear, with conflicting accounts emerging.

The first account suggests it was an accidental discharge while fixing a rifle. The second account points towards friendly fire, with DSP Adama Adekunle Emmanuel's colleague accidentally shooting him. The third account suggests that DSP Adama Adekunle Emmanuel shot in the air, and the bullet bounced back, striking him.

Titilayo Adams, the widow of DSP Adama Adekunle Emmanuel, alleges that the injuries on her husband's body do not suggest an accident. She claims that her husband's body was taken to Maitama General Hospital without the family's consent.

The incident occurred at a hotel where DSP Adama Adekunle Emmanuel was on assignment. He had been attached to a politician in the Life Camp area and left home on Sunday morning with plans to return later that day.

The NSCDC investigation into the murder of DSP Adama Adekunle Emmanuel was taken over by the Nigerian Police Force. As of the time of filing the report, Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Command PRO, has not issued any further statement regarding the development. The NSCDC authorities have not provided any official briefing to the family about the incident.

Titilayo Adams pleads for the authorities to take care of her husband's burial rites and expresses that she has no job to cater for her two children who resumed school and whose house rent has expired. She also appeals for justice and support in this difficult time.

The widow's frustration at the three conflicting reports surrounding her husband's death is palpable. She urges the authorities to shed light on the true circumstances of his death and bring the perpetrator to justice.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the risks that our security personnel face in the line of duty and the need for a thorough and transparent investigation in such cases. Our thoughts are with the family of DSP Adama Adekunle Emmanuel during this difficult time.
