In a recent crackdown on traffic violations, police officers in Kassel conducted thorough checks in the city centre, focusing on E-scooter riders, speeders, and show-offs. The checks, which took place from 8 pm to 4 am on Saturday, revealed numerous violations.
During the E-scooter checks, many incidents involving improper use of sidewalks and unauthorized passengers were recorded. These findings underscore the need for increased awareness and adherence to the rules when using these vehicles.
On Holländische Straße, 13 drivers exceeded the permitted speed limit of 30 km/h. This highlights the prevalence of speeding in the city and the importance of enforcing speed limits to ensure road safety.
One of the most concerning incidents involved a 21-year-old who was caught driving an E-scooter under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level of 1.5%. This is a clear breach of road safety regulations and a potential threat to both the driver and other road users.
A 26-year-old driver was also found to have exceeded the speed limit by an alarming 58 km/h. To make matters worse, this individual was also illegally using their phone while driving. As a result, a criminal investigation for illegal racing was initiated, and their driver's license was confiscated.
In a separate incident, a 21-year-old driver was caught driving a Mercedes Sprinter without a license. This individual was issued a citation and reminded of the importance of holding a valid driver's license.
Despite the numerous violations found, no specific information was available about a person being arrested on Saturday evening in Kassel for having alcohol in their blood during an e-scooter control.
However, it is worth noting that no issues were reported on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße during the traffic checks.
The traffic checks in Kassel serve as a reminder for all road users to adhere to the rules and regulations to ensure a safe and orderly road environment. The police will continue to conduct such checks to maintain road safety and uphold the law.
