Arrest made in Cologne-Ostheim over alleged narcotics trafficking

In a significant operation on Monday afternoon (18th August), a 29-year-old man was arrested in Ostheim, Cologne, on suspicion of drug trafficking. The arrest took place after he was spotted by a patrol unit around 4 pm on Hohenberger Kirchweg.

Upon searching the suspect, over 100 grams of various drugs, including cannabis, amphetamines, and cocaine, were found. The suspect attempted to evade the police, jumping up from a park bench before fleeing. However, a brief chase ensued, and the suspect was eventually apprehended.

A search of the suspect's apartment revealed a more substantial cache of drugs. Approximately 1.5 kilograms of cannabis, over 300 grams of hashish, and over 50 grams of cocaine were seized. In addition, two air rifles, two imitation pistols, and around 14,000 euros in cash were found.

Officers also discovered suspicious chat logs on the suspect's phone, indicating drug trafficking activities. The police obtained a court order to search the suspect's apartment, which led to the discovery of the large quantities of narcotics and several imitation firearms.

The arrest was provisional, and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect will appear before a court to face charges related to drug trafficking and possession of imitation firearms. The authorities are reminding the public that they are committed to tackling drug-related crimes and maintaining public safety in the city.
