Arrest made on an active warrant for a suspected firearm offender
In a developing story, the Police Directorate 1 (North) has made an arrest in connection with a shooting incident that took place in Gesundbrunnen last night.
The incident occurred between a 28-year-old man and three acquaintances in Drontheimer Straße. According to reports, an argument escalated, leading one of the individuals to pull out a live firearm and shoot the 28-year-old in the foot.
A passerby found the injured man lying on the ground and alerted the police, who responded promptly. The man was transported to a hospital for treatment and underwent surgery for his gunshot wound. He is currently under inpatient care.
The Police Directorate 1 (North) executed an arrest warrant and a search warrant on behalf of the Public Prosecutor's Office Berlin at a residence in Wedding. The suspect, a 32-year-old man, was apprehended around 10:30 PM in Reinickendorfer Straße. During the arrest, the suspect sustained injuries that were treated on the spot.
The suspect is now in custody and is being investigated for dangerous bodily harm. A specialized commission of the Police Directorate 1 (North) has taken over the further investigation. The focus of the investigation is the search for the perpetrator, with the trio remaining at large.
