Arrival of Kuwaiti oil tankers in Lebanon as part of a fresh energy agreement
In a significant development, Lebanon is set to receive natural gas and oil from a coalition of Gulf countries, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain. This announcement is part of an agreement aimed at supporting Lebanon in difficult times, as highlighted by Kuwait's solidarity.
The Lebanese Energy Minister, Joe Saddi, recently announced the arrival of Kuwaiti oil tankers in Lebanese waters, marking the beginning of this historic supply. The deal, reported by Al-Rai daily, includes 132,000 metric tons of gas oil, with half, 66,000 tons, generously donated by Kuwait.
This arrangement effectively halves the cost compared to other offers, ensuring the supply without placing an extra burden on Lebanese citizens. The remaining portion of the cost will be covered by the utility's revenues.
The gas oil is intended to operate Electricité du Liban plants, securing a stable energy source for the country. The sale is planned for the first quarter of 2026.
The Lebanese government and its people express their gratitude to Kuwait for its continued support. This act of solidarity underscores the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The details of this agreement underscore the commitment of the Gulf countries to supporting Lebanon in its time of need, and it serves as a testament to the power of regional cooperation.
