Arsenal's negotiations with Benjamin Sesko regarding a transfer are apparently ongoing, as indicated by the latest report.
Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks with Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to transfer guru David Ornstein. Gyokeres appears to be the more likely candidate as things stand, but the pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko continues.
The value of Gyokeres has not been explicitly stated, but it's worth noting that Transfermarkt values Sesko at €70m. Sesko is younger, but it's unclear if he would be willing to come in as an understudy.
If the deal for Gyokeres' transfer gets over the line, it would be surprising to see Sesko follow, given the combined estimated cost of the two players is around £130m. It seems unlikely that Arsenal would dedicate so many resources in one window on two players that are unlikely to be able to play together.
Both Gyokeres and Sesko are traditional no.9s, and it's unclear how they would fit in Arsenal's one-striker system. The Portuguese site A Bola claims that Sporting and Arsenal are £5m apart in their valuations of Gyokeres.
Leipzig, on the other hand, claim they have received no notice from Arsenal that they are abandoning their chase of Sesko. The negotiations with Leipzig over Sesko are still ongoing, as previously mentioned.
In the opinion of some, Arsenal may be hedging their bets until a signed contract for Gyokeres' transfer is secured. The deal for Gyokeres may be close, but the pursuit of Sesko continues, suggesting that Arsenal may be keeping their options open.
