The vibrant city of Riga is gearing up for a cultural extravaganza as the Riga Festival takes centre stage from May 26 to June 1. This art festival, a collaborative effort between the Galleries Association of Latvia and the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency, promises to showcase the city's rich artistic heritage and creative potential.

The festival will unfold in various cultural venues and new creative neighbourhoods and quarters, with one of the key creative venues being Grīziņdārzs, located in the historic 'Rīgas adītājs' factory buildings. The main event of the festival will take place on Friday, 30 May, in Grīziņdārzs.

Emilija Škarnulytė's video installation 'Eternal Return', first shown at the Tate Modern in London, will be a main feature at the festival. This installation, a collaboration between architecture, design, and drama, will be unveiled during 'Gallery Late' on Thursday, 29 May. Visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves and step into the installation.

The festival will serve as an example of cooperation between art galleries, museums, the Art Academy, and other cultural spaces. Seven of these venues will host the opening of new art exhibitions.

Elīna Drāke is the festival's curator, and cooperation between Baltic artists is emphasised in the festival. Admission to almost all festival events will be free of charge, but separate museum entrances may require tickets.

Rīga and Latvia could become the Baltic leader for this type of festival, attracting art enthusiasts from around the world. The unveiling of the installation will take place in the new creative quarter of Pārdaugava, Slokas Street, adding to the festival's allure.

Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to explore approximately 30 art spaces in Riga during 'Gallery Late'. The Riga Festival is set to redefine the city's cultural landscape and leave a lasting impression on all who attend.
