Artist Kate Pierson from the B-52s band lists her imaginative Woodstock sanctuary for sale
In the picturesque foothills of the Catskill Mountains, a two-acre cabin that once belonged to the B-52s singer Kate Pierson and her longtime artist wife Monica Coleman is now up for sale. Known as Kate's Lazy Cabin, the property is listed for $750,000 by Diana Polack and Jason Nadeau at the Upstate Curious Team of Compass.
The cabin, situated in Ulster County and minutes away from Cooper Lake, offers a serene retreat nestled among the woods. The clapboard-sided and shingle-roof structure, originally built in the early 1950s, has been updated during Pierson's tenure, featuring a spacious knotty pine-paneled living room with a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, a row of large multi-paned windows, and a dining area tucked off to the side.
Inside, three bedrooms and two baths packed into roughly 1,300 square feet of eclectically stylish living space await. Sliding doors in the breakfast nook lead out to a deck with built-in seating, perfect for enjoying the tranquil surroundings. The property shares a couple of newly renovated baths among its bedrooms.
The cabin, which was part of a bicoastal portfolio of properties owned by Pierson under the Lazy Lodging moniker, boasts a unique charm. A Native American-style painted door leads to the vaulted galley kitchen, spotlighted by a center island topped with an orange pendant light and a creamy ceramic backsplash.
The forested grounds of the cabin are fully fenced, offering privacy and peace. The property, located along Mink Hollow Road, which meanders along Beaver Kill, a trout fishing stream, provides an idyllic setting for nature lovers.
Pierson purchased the cabin in Upstate New York's Lake Hill community near Woodstock 30 years ago. The couple still maintains a beach house in the outer Cape Cod area of Massachusetts, known as Kate's Lazy Cape. Another property, Kate's Lazy Meadow, a 1950s boutique motel complex in the Woodstock area, was sold in summer 2021 for $2.25 million. Another property, Kate's Lazy Desert, a glamping destination with Airstream trailers in California's Mojave Desert, was sold last year for around $666,000.
Wendy Bowman, a real estate writer, provides this report. Bowman previously worked as a freelancer for Modern Luxury and several other media outlets, primarily covering luxury properties. The Woodstock estate was previously owned by the couple before being purchased by actor Mark Ruffalo.
For those seeking a slice of history and a chance to own a piece of the B-52s legend, Kate's Lazy Cabin presents an opportunity not to be missed.
