Assistance for Juveniles in Critical Predicaments

In the city of Göttingen, a call has been issued for individuals and families who are willing to offer a secure place for children and young people in emergency situations. This initiative, known as on-call foster care, provides a vital service for those in need, often for a short period of one night.

On-call foster care facilities require a safe environment and a room with a sleeping area and daily necessities. The city of Göttingen covers the costs for the necessary certificates for foster carers and offers a standby allowance of 300 euros per month, along with additional daily rates upon admission.

The age range of the affected children and young people is between 0 and 17 years. Potential foster carers must meet certain formal requirements, including personal suitability, a registered address in the city area of Göttingen, extended police clearance certificate, and a medical certificate for a foster home.

Those interested in on-call foster care can contact Thomas Hartel at 0551/400-2274 or Antje Dilling-Krabbes at 0551/400-3050. The city's email for on-call foster care is Pflegekinderdienst@unser-website. A flyer for on-call foster care in Göttingen is also available.

Information sessions for on-call foster care take place on the first Thursday of every month from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Foster Children's Service of the City of Göttingen, Danziger Straße 40. Here, potential foster carers can learn more about the process, ask questions, and discuss their availability and preferences for age range and emergency times with the employees of the Foster Children's Service.

Special expenses for items like a child's bed are reimbursed for foster carers. In case of admission, the child or young person will be brought to the foster carer after agreement, and the next morning, they will be taken to the Department of Youth of the City of Göttingen, Danziger Straße 40.

The city of Göttingen is currently seeking more supporters for on-call foster care facilities. By offering their homes and hearts, individuals, families, life partners, same-sex couples, and others can make a significant difference in the lives of children and adolescents in crisis.

Join the city of Göttingen in its mission to provide a safe and supportive environment for those in need. Become an on-call foster carer today.
