In a chilling incident that occurred on Labor Day, a man viciously attempted to rape a nail salon employee in Midtown. The attack took place at a business on West 36th Street and Broadway, around 6 p.m.

According to reports, the suspect lunged at a 34-year-old employee and grabbed her by the arm. He pulled her into a back room and threw her to the ground. The perpetrator bit the employee and attempted to rip off her pants and underwear, but the victim was able to fight him off by grabbing a nearby object.

The suspect, who is a known sex offender, fled the scene before he could complete the sickening act. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, beige pants, and possibly a hat. However, he did not have the hat on when he fled.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital by EMS and is currently in stable condition. Law enforcement seeks the public's aid to track down the suspect.

The business was closed for the day, but the door was left unlocked, which may have allowed the suspect to gain entry. Anyone with information regarding the suspect's whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org or on Twitter @NYPDTips. All calls and messages to Crime Stoppers are kept confidential.

At this time, the suspect in the attempted rape has not been publicly identified. The NYPD urges anyone with information about this incident to come forward and help bring the perpetrator to justice.
