Fire in Canarisweg: Hannover Fire Department Responds to Residential Building Incident
In an emergency response on Friday afternoon, the Hannover Fire Department tackled a fire that broke out in the roof area of a nine-story residential building located on Canarisweg, within the Mühlenberg district.
Upon arrival, a large black smoke column was visible, escalating the alarm level. Several callers reported explosions and heavy smoke on the roof of the building. To aid the incident commander, a drone was employed for reconnaissance, in addition to conventional thermal imaging cameras.
A total of approximately 75 emergency services personnel from the fire department and emergency services were involved, using 30 vehicles. The fire was fought using two turntable ladders, two hose lines, and multiple breathing apparatus teams.
The overhaul process was labor-intensive as the roof surface had to be searched for hotspots. Thankfully, no one was injured during the fire, and the overhaul process was completed, allowing tenants to return to their unaffected apartments.
Following the completion of the measures, the scene was handed over to the police for the investigation of the cause. The Fire Department cannot provide information on the cause and extent of the damage at this time.
