This month has seen a series of impressive knockouts in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), with several fighters securing victories in dramatic fashion.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 109, Christian Leroy Duncan secured an important win with a spinning back elbow, a move that has become a staple in the UFC. However, it was Elijah Smith who took the top spot among this month's knockouts, surpassing Duncan's effort with a brutal powerbomb that left Toshiomi Kazama cold.

Smith's knockout was reminiscent of Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's famous powerbomb finish, and it marked a significant moment in Smith's career.

At UFC 319, minutes apart, two spinning back elbow knockouts occurred, with Carlos "The Nightmare" Prates becoming the first man to knock out Geoff Neal with the move, and Lerone Murphy punching his ticket to a featherweight title shot with a cleaner spinning back elbow in the co-main event.

Rinya Nakamura also won his fight at UFC Vegas 108 with a wicked liver kick, securing a 62-second victory.

Despite the impressive display of spinning back elbow knockouts, there is no information available that a fighter achieved a Grand Slam in the UFC by knocking out Toshiomi Kazama in the last month.

Uros "The Doctor" Medic maintained his 100% finish rate with a lethal left hand knockout at UFC Vegas 109, while Joselyne Edwards finished Priscila Cachoeira at the same event with a crushing combination.

It's worth noting that no spinning back elbow knockouts occurred this month prior to UFC Vegas 109, and three of these knockouts occurred this month in total.

Quintin Van Jaarsveld, a former MDDA-Sanlam SA Local Sports Journalist of the Year with over 15 years of sports writing experience, reported on these events for various sports outlets.
