Authorities apprehended the alleged copper thief
In the heart of Celle, a remarkable incident unfolded yesterday afternoon, on August 28, 2025. An off-duty police officer, who is associated with the Celle police station, spotted a 33-year-old man carrying zinc pipes and a high-voltage cable on his bicycle in Hamburger Weg.
The responding police patrol was immediately notified and secured the items. Investigations later revealed that the items were indeed stolen, and it was suspected that they had been taken from a barn in Garßen.
Despite the confirmation of the stolen nature of the items, the suspect was not arrested but was released following police procedures. However, it is important to note that the suspect has a history with the Celle police for property crimes.
