Authorities are seeking evidence.
In the quiet town of Recklinghausen, two institutions for children and youth were unfortunately targeted over the weekend.
On Töpferstraße, a kindergarten was broken into, while a children's and youth center on Hackfurthstraße also suffered a break-in. The perpetrator(s) managed to flee undetected from both locations.
The break-ins were detected on Sunday afternoon at around 16:15. At the children's center, a door was forced open to gain entry, and inside, two more doors were broken to access the office. At the kindergarten, at least one unknown perpetrator forced open a window to gain access to the interior.
Two cabinets in the staff room of the kindergarten were opened, but it's unclear if anything was stolen. No information is available on stolen goods from either location.
The police are asking for witnesses who may have observed suspicious activity and can provide information about suspects in both cases. Anyone who saw something is asked to call the police at 0800/2361 111.
While the search results do not provide the name of the current leader of the Polizeidirektion Recklinghausen, it is known that Friederike Zurhausen is the Police President in Recklinghausen. However, she is not the specific leader of the Polizeidirektion.
The police headquarters in Recklinghausen can be followed for updates on the break-ins via their official website (https://recklinghausen.polizei.nrw/) and various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp). For media inquiries regarding the break-ins, please contact the Police Headquarters Recklinghausen, Press Office Annette Achenbach, at 02361 55 1033 or [email protected].
