Authorities are seeking out individuals who may have observed a particular event.
On Friday, August 29th, around 8:45 pm, a 52-year-old man was found severely injured on a sidewalk in front of the Nord Sports Hall in Dortmund. The incident occurred following an argument with several people.
Several witnesses observed the dispute on Münsterstraße in Dortmund on Friday evening at 20:45. Concerned, they immediately called emergency services. The man was then taken to a hospital by an ambulance. According to doctors, his life is in danger.
The police are currently investigating the attack, with the Dortmund Public Prosecutor's Office and Dortmund Police jointly leading the investigation. To help with the investigation, the Dortmund Police have established a homicide unit.
The attackers are believed to be five darkly dressed men aged between 20 and 30. One of the perpetrators was described as wearing a red jersey and a cap. However, no further details about the motive for the attack have been released to the public.
The attackers fled the scene after the attack, and a police dog search was unsuccessful in finding them. Anyone with information about the crime or the fleeing perpetrators is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at 0231/132-7441.
