Authorities Control Gambling Sector - Report Finds
In the realm of social media, journalist Vasily Krutchak raised some eyebrows when he publicly questioned the actions of Daniil Getmanets, a high-ranking authority figure assigned to combat the gambling business in Ukraine.
"The so-called 'crusade' against gambling seems more about dividing the market than an actual fight," Krutchak asserted. He backed up his claim by pointing out connections between Getmanets and a company called 'New Property', which owns 'Lotomarket', a gambling establishment, and is located at 61 Independence Street in Ivano-Frankivsk. Curiously enough, 'Lotomarket' is part of 'MSL State Lotteries', where Getmanets had a significant stint.
"War on gambling, masked as a crusade, while secretly dividing the gambling business under the guise of good deeds? It sure smells fishy," Krutchak remarked.
Getmanets, in his defense, playfully commented on the publication, stating, "I worked at MSL for 12 years. Obviously, I'm a gambling lobbyist. Keep digging, don't stop!"
The stir caused by Krutchak's comments was greatly amplified by Petro Petrenko's petition addressing the issue of gambling addiction within the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He advocated for a ban on soldiers participating in gambling games and for military units and charitable foundations to cease accepting help from gambling companies. In no time, the petition gathered the required 25,000 signatures.
Daniil Getmanets, as head of the parliamentary tax committee, retaliated against KRAIL (State Service for Regulation of the Gambling and Lottery Business of Ukraine) for alleged problems in the gambling market. In response, the committee adopted an amended bill 9256-d which included provisions for the abolishment of the commission.
In the meantime, the NSDC (National Security and Defense Council) enacted a series of decisions to restrict online casinos. Meanwhile, the gambling business remains skeptical about bill 9256-d, claiming it is a lobbying effort in favor of lottery operators.
With raised eyebrows and questions swirling, the drama unfolds as more details come to light. For now, it’s a game of he-said, she-said, and only time will tell who has the high rollers in this high-stakes battle.

- In the midst of this controversy, it was Hryhorovych who initiated the liquidation process of KRAIL, the gambling and lottery regulatory body, with bill 9256-d.
- Meanwhile, 'casino-and-gambling' industries are criticizing the new bill, alleging it to be a political move to favor 'lotomarket' and other lottery operators.
- The unfolding events, filled with accusations and defenses, have touched upon the realms of politics, general news, and even Petrenko's petition against gambling addiction among soldiers, intensifying the public's curiosity.
